From Thursday, 2 May 2019, a pendulum by Ingo Maurer can be seen in the entrance area of the Pinakothek der Moderne, the 'Rotunde'. The overman-sized ellipsoid is vibrated by hand at regular intervals.
Ingo Maurer will be present at the opening on 2 May 2019, 19.00. Starting in 2019, the four museums in the Pinakothek der Moderne will alternate to display a site-specific work in the Rotunda as an expression of transdisciplinarity. Dr. Angelika Nollert, Director of "The New Collection - The Design Museum", asked Ingo Maurer and his team for an installation to animate the entrance area. The result is a highly polished, swinging pendulum made of aluminium that enables a new spatial experience. The pendulum will be on display until February 2020. The installation is the prelude to an exhibition that from 15 November 2019 to 18 October 2020 will take a far-reaching look at the work of Ingo Maurer.
